Novano® Composite Decking & Cladding
Novano high-performance composite decking and cladding materials are engineered for demanding exterior environments. Using Enhanced Fiber Composite (EFC) technology, Novano combines rice hulls with advanced material science to deliver the warmth and aesthetic appeal of wood without many of the maintenance challenges associated with traditional wood products. The material is 100% wood-free and engineered for dimensional stability, moisture resistance, UV exposure, termite resistance, and long-term exterior performance.
Novano products give architects, developers, and builders a durable, low-maintenance alternative for decking, siding, cladding, fencing, screenwalls, trellis, and other exterior applications.
Engineered for Performance. Designed for Beauty.
Novano combines the natural character of rice-hull-based material with advanced composite engineering to create exterior products designed for demanding environments. The result is a material that offers the aesthetic appeal of wood with dimensional stability, resistance to moisture and insects, and reduced maintenance requirements.
What Makes Rice Husk So Effective?
Rice husks—or rice hulls—are the hard, protective outer shells of rice grains. Their naturally high silica content contributes to hydrophobicity, surface hardness, and structural rigidity. For a broader overview of rice husk properties and applications, see the research article Rice Husk at a Glance: From Agro-Industrial to Modern Applications.
Novano uses rice husks as the primary fiber in its Enhanced Fiber Composite (EFC) technology, creating a material engineered for water resistance, surface durability, and dimensional stability.
Works Like Wood, Not Plastic
Novano can be cut, sawed, drilled, and fabricated using conventional woodworking tools and equipment. Unlike many WPC materials, Novano does not produce the characteristic odor associated with cutting, sawing, or sanding plastic-based composites. Its sawdust also doesn’t cling to tools and surfaces because of static charge.
The result is a premium wood-like aesthetic without the ongoing sanding, staining, and refinishing often associated with natural hardwoods.

NOVANO DECKING PROFILES
Novano composite decking is an integrated system designed to deliver long-term performance, visual consistency, and reliable installation across residential and commercial projects. The system includes hollow decking boards, flat-edge Edge Boards for clean perimeter installations, and Fascia Boards for concealing exposed deck edges and framing. The concealed fastening system uses stainless steel starter clips and decking clips to maintain consistent spacing and secure the boards without visible screws.
Novano decking features a proprietary color-coating system. The enhanced RTS (Ready-To-Use Stain) and Top Coat process creates a homogeneous base layer with uniform color throughout the board, helping minimize the visual impact of scratches and surface wear. The system is designed specifically for horizontal applications in demanding outdoor environments.
NOVANO SIDING & SOFFIT PROFILES
Novano siding, soffit, and ceiling profiles combine architectural versatility with long-term performance and low maintenance. A range of textures, geometries, and shadow lines provides design flexibility across residential and commercial applications.
Novano profiles feature a precision tongue-and-groove interlocking design for efficient installation and a clean, uniform finish. Concealed fastening creates a streamlined, screw-free appearance, while the range of profile widths accommodates a variety of architectural designs.
NOVANO WALL CLADDING
Novano offers a variety of textures, multi-channel geometries, and shadow lines, giving architects and designers flexibility to create distinctive exterior facades. Available profiles range from 2 to 7 channels, with thin and thick wall variations and specialized aluminum-reinforced options.
Novano cladding profiles feature a precision tongue-and-groove interlocking design for efficient installation and a clean, uniform exterior finish. Concealed fastening creates a streamlined, screw-free appearance, while the range of profile configurations provides design flexibility for residential and commercial applications.

Novano Decking and Cladding Products FAQs
Yes. Traditional wood often requires regular sanding, staining, painting, and sealing to protect it from weather and restore finishes affected by UV exposure. Novano composite building products require only occasional cleaning with soap and water, helping reduce maintenance requirements and the total cost of ownership for homeowners and property owners.
Yes. Winters can be especially demanding on exterior materials due to snow accumulation and repeated freezing and thawing. Novano is engineered for dimensional stability, helping resist the swelling, splitting, and cracking that can affect natural wood products under changing moisture and temperature conditions.
Like most exterior building materials, composite decking will warm when exposed to direct sunlight. The amount of heat absorbed is influenced by both the material and its color. See the HDG Solar Reflectance Primer to learn more.
Novano’s advanced engineering and ArmorTone™ technology are designed to help minimize heat buildup while maintaining long-lasting color stability. Choosing lighter colors and incorporating shade structures can further improve comfort during hot summer days.
Novano composite products are engineered for long-term color performance and resistance to UV exposure and weathering.
For siding and other applications, the system is applied over a structural composite core with a prepared Novano base layer and finished with advanced color-coating technology. This coating system is designed to provide durable color protection, consistent color performance, and resistance to environmental exposure for long-lasting facade appearance.
For decking applications, Novano adds ArmorTone™ Color Technology over a homogeneous base layer. ArmorTone™ integrates color throughout the finish system, from the base layer through the protective topcoat, rather than relying on pigment only at the surface. This engineered color architecture helps maintain a consistent appearance while reducing the visual impact of normal surface wear over time.
Novano color-coating benefits include UV protection, water resistance, deep color penetration, surface durability, anti-graffiti performance, fade resistance, weather resistance, low maintenance, and a decorative finish.
Yes. Coastal properties are exposed to salt air, moisture, and changing weather conditions that can deteriorate conventional wood products. Novano decking and cladding materials are designed to resist salt spray, mold, mildew, and moisture-related damage, making them well suited for waterfront homes and commercial developments.
Yes. Novano wood-free composite materials eliminate the organic food source that attracts termites and many other wood-destroying insects.
Novano products are also manufactured with very low moisture absorption, helping reduce the conditions that contribute to mold and mildew growth.
Yes. HDG Building Materials is an expert dealer for Buzon pedestals and can recommend pedestal-set or aluminum-joist-over-pedestal installation options for Novano decking.
Get a free material takeoff for your project showing decking requirements, pedestal quantities, joist holders, slope correctors, and other components. HDG Building Materials can also recommend wind-uplift solutions for pedestal-set Novano decking.
Composite materials can provide excellent durability, but hurricane performance depends on the complete installed assembly rather than the surface material alone. Architects and builders in hurricane-prone regions should verify applicable product approvals, wind-load requirements, fastening systems, substrate design, and local building-code requirements for each project.
HDG Building Materials can recommend wind-uplift solutions for pedestal-set Novano decking based on project-specific requirements.
