Elevated Porcelain Paver Deck

An elevated porcelain paver deck requires a support system that accommodates the finish surface while working with the underlying structure.

In this project, porcelain pavers are installed over Buzon U-Tabs Flat and U-Pads Ground, supported by 1-inch-thick HDG grating panels and pressure-treated wood joists.

The assembly creates a clean, elevated walking surface while providing a practical approach to supporting porcelain pavers over a framed deck.

A Layered System for an Elevated Porcelain Paver Deck

This elevated porcelain paver deck combines several components, each serving a distinct role in the assembly:

  • Porcelain pavers provide the finished walking surface.
  • Buzon U-Tabs Flat and U-Pads Ground support the pavers over the grating panels.
  • HDG grating panels, 1 inch thick, provide the intermediate support surface.
  • Pressure-treated wood joists, form the underlying deck structure.

Together, these materials create a layered assembly for an elevated deck application. The project illustrates how HDG grating panels and Buzon support products can be used together with porcelain pavers over a wood-framed structure.

From Support System to Finished Surface

The construction photos show the assembly at different stages, including exposed grating panels, Buzon support components, and porcelain pavers being installed.

These views reveal details that are difficult to see once the deck surface is complete. They also illustrate how the grating panels fit into the overall assembly between the wood framing and the porcelain pavers.

The same grating panels are used for the stair treads, extending the material system beyond the main deck surface.

An Outdoor Living Space Taking Shape

The deck is part of a larger outdoor living area that includes a covered seating space and an outdoor kitchen. Together, these features help define a sheltered space for cooking, dining, and gathering outdoors.

HDG Grating Panels Beneath Stair Treads

Stairs connect the elevated deck to a lower-level porcelain patio, extending the outdoor living area across two levels. HDG grating panels form the base for the stair treads and will be covered with porcelain pavers to create a consistent finished surface across the deck and stairs. The project photos document the installation in progress.
