Ipe Deck Project Overview

This refurbished commercial rooftop deck brought additional life to an outdoor living area. Nestled between a swimming pool and tennis court the raised deck offers a gathering place where guests can enjoy the nearby gas barbecues or just relax. People are protected from the sun or unexpected showers with a bioclimatic pergola that can be opened and closed at the touch of a button. The building’s owner and maintenance staff can rest easy knowing the ipe decking surface can withstand the weather, heavy pedestrian traffic, and movement from tables and chairs.

Installation Details

The locally uneven surface was leveled using slope-correcting and height-adjustable Buzon pedestals. The pedestals were then covered with beautiful Brazilian ipe deck tiles.

Using Buzon adjustable pedestals gives a project like this a couple of advantages:

• With the slope-correction ability of the Buzon pedestals, the ipe deck tiles remain perfectly level for people and furniture while the locally uneven substrate slopes towards the drains.
• Another advantage of installing pavers over pedestals is that the electrical conduit can be hidden beneath the decking surface. This make the space more beautiful while eliminating unsightly conduit and trip hazards.
